Licvem and NYK Bulk & Projects Launching New Joint Venture Company

Licvem Shipping & Trading ApS (Licvem), a leading logistics operator based in Copenhagen, and NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd. (NBP), a global heavy lift and project cargo carrier based in Tokyo, are pleased to announce the establishment of a new company for the ownership and operation of a new joint venture company, Licvem NBP ApS (LBP).

Licvem and NBP came to recognise strengths and expertise that each could contribute to mutual business cooperation and have thus decided to jointly develop a business for the carriage of break bulk cargo to/from ports primarily in Europe and Africa market.

Tokyo-based NBP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), one of the world’s largest shipping companies, and is a leading ocean carriers of project cargo, heavy-lift cargo, steel products, and bulk cargo. NBP operates a fleet of about 170 vessels, and this fleet includes 40 crane-equipped multi-purpose (MPP) and heavy-lift vessels that can transport a wide range of cargo.

Licvem is a privately owned company that was incorporated in Denmark in April 2011. Licvem is primarily active as a charter operator, specialising in the transport of AN, IMO-1, project and UN cargo in Africa and Middle East. Licvem acts as an operator of MPP vessels (between 2,000 and 20,000 DWT) and charters approximately 45-60 vessels per year.

The new joint venture company LBP will commercially operate 3-8 MPP vessels for break bulk, dry bulk, general and project cargo, as well as IMO and RORO cargo, principally but not limited to Europe and Africa route.
